April Theme: Poetry
April is National Poetry Month and so this month you will find highlights of various poets or anthologies of poetry.
Recommended Grades: 3-5
Poetry Speaks to Children (Book & CD) (Read & Hear)
poetry. There are 95 poems in the book from 73 poets. It’s a picture book and storybook in poetry. The book also comes with a CD that has 50 poems from 34 poets. Most of the poems on the CD are read by the poets themselves!
Lesson idea: Listen to the poets read their own poems and follow along in the book. Then have students write their own poetry and record themselves reading it aloud.
