Reading Makes You Feel Good by Todd Parr

August Theme: Motivating Readers

Recommended Grades: 3rd -5th grade

Reading Makes You Feel Good inspires children to delight in the joyful, rewarding experience of reading.

Lesson Idea: In the first month of school, consider combining building your classroom community with activities and lessons that motivate readers.  Read aloud this book and discuss all the ways reading makes one feel good.  Ask students to create two lists; one of ways that reading makes them feel good and another list of words that make them feel good.  Discuss the lists.
