A wonderful story about persistence and overcoming obstacles, this biography tells the story of Wilma Rudolph, the world’s fastest woman.
Mentor Text: Biography/Persistence/Author Study: Wilma Unlimited: How Wilma Rudolph Became the World’s Fastest Woman is a great mentor text when discussing the genre of biography, perhaps as part of an author study of Kathleen Krull’s work, or as a model for persistence. Wilma had to overcome many health obstacles. She then participated in the Olympics and won three gold medals, the first American woman to do so at a single Olympics.
